U-14s Find Loughinisland a Step Too Far in Championship Final

Tuesday 13th September 2016

Despite a strong opening 20 minutes when they dominated possession and led the match the Clubs U-14s eventually succumbed to a very strong Loughinisland who had only lost 1 game in the entire season. St Pauls tried to play the entire match with their now trademark high tempo and intensity but a combination of a large pitch, a very strong opponent and the absence of any good luck meant that they came up a bit short in the end, even though they gave their best right up to the end.

As the players were reminded before the match, the coaches weren't waiting on the outcome of the final to make their judgment on the season which was undoubtedly a success for this fine young group who developed a very easy on the eye and honest style of play as the season progressed. Every player has found some form of improvement during the season and the coaches are immensely proud of them all.

The coaching team of Aidan, Patrick, Eoin & Michael would like to thank the entire panel for the efforts throughout the year, remember each season is only a stepping stone to making you a better footballer and always take pride in everything you do. Also a big thank you to their parents and families, the team has benefited from excellent support during the year, the home support for the semi-final was particularly memorable & noisy.

The players and coaches would like to thank the East Down Board and Ballykinlar GAC for their excellent organization of the Final, even in defeat the boys still got a sense of being involved is an excellent, important occasion. We also pass on our congratulations to Loughinisland who have had a wonderful season, completely dominating the grade and deserving winners on the day.

The coaches will be in touch  with the panel shortly to arrange a wee end of season event.
